The 27-year-old midfielder is a target of Real, and the deal could be completed next week as they appear to have given up on securing Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.

"I confirm that they (Real) are interested," said Udinese president Giampaolo Pozzo. "My son was set to meet them yesterday but he was unable to so we postponed everything until next week.
