27 November 2011- It seems that the iOS and Android ‘battle’ is becoming similar to the Mac vs. PC battle as the same old debates beginning to rise. The main argument in the iOS’ favour would be that it’s more secure than Android and is certainly true to a point. As Apple insists on testing apps for the iOS, malware is mostly non-existent. While there may have been apps that slipped through, the system is largely foolproof.
Android, meanwhile, allows any app and side-apps to be downloaded which makes it an easy target for malware as users may unknowingly install it. Renowned security researcher Bruce Scheiner agrees, but says that the iOS may not stay safe for long. He believes that as more people use smartphones, it becomes an increasingly valuable resource for cyber criminals. While Google fights security concerns, Apple will have to make sure that Mobile Safari and webkit also stay secure.
